Heli-Hiking - Private Charter

The Pinnacle of hiking in the Canadian Rockies and closest Heli-Hiking to Banff. This private chartered program includes return 8 minute helicopter flights through Cougar Canyon with drop-off on an alpine ridge above treeline, plus 2.5~3 hours of remote high-alpine meadow walking with your private professional interpretive helihiking guide in a remote wilderness setting, with 360 degree views and opportunities to see Bighorn Sheep and Marmots.

Heli-hiking is based in Canmore with our partner Alpine Helicopters and is easily accessible from Canmore, Banff, and Kananaskis. Our season is from late June to end of September. Our heli-hiking region is in the "Charles Stewart/Cougar Creek Headwaters" area located north of Canmore. Our expert guides select the location and hike that suits your abilities and interests.

Choose the Level of Difficulty:

Easy
Mostly flat or downhill walking over grassy meadows. Walking distance: approx. 2-3 km.

Moderate
Variety of walking including elevation gains up to 300 metres.
Route can be grassy to rocky. Walking distance: 3-4 km.

Challenging
Lots of ups and downs over uneven terrain.
Elevations gains up to 400 metres. Walking distance: 3-4 km

A $500 deposit is required at time of booking (fully refundable up to 48 hours prior to departure, or if heliflight is unable to proceed due to inclement weather or emergency secondment of helicopter) 

Chartered Heli-hikes are available 7 days a week from mid-June to mid-September. Maximum 5 clients per charter. Multiple charters available for groups up to 20 clients
